Photoshop CS4: A NEW BEAST OR AN OVER-GLORIFIED TWIN?

A question many avid Photoshop users are wondering is whether or not, the recently released, Creative Suite 4 is all its cracked up to be? Are the upgrades and new features worth the upgrade for existing users or is everyone better off sticking with CS3? Firstly, the most notable new and improved feature Photoshop has is its content-aware scaling feature. This makes it possible for you to shrink the size of an image without distorting the figures within the image or having to change the aspect ratio. May come in handy if you have strong juxtaposing figures in your foreground and background. Another, feature is the new three-dimensional tool which converts regular 2D layers in to 3D layers. This new feature not only supports 3D images, but also allows you to cast light and add texture to the image.   read more »

The 20 Typefaces

I recently came across a great article called "20 Typefaces To Start a Designer's Career"; revived by Jacob Cass from an article in the archives of Typophile. It was designed using what Apple calls the “Brick” manufacturing process which is supposed to make this Mac lighter and more resistant to accidental drops. It also comes with the Multi-Touch trackpad where you can pinch, swipe, or rotate to enlarge text, advance through photos, or adjust an image. This track pad is the first of its kind (I think); there is no visible button since the track pad is one big button. Of course the update we really care about is the NVIDIA GeForce video card and the amazing LED backlit display, which only the Macbook Pros had before. read more »

Rocket Soccerball

About the Work:

I drew my character as a robot and had it shoot up an object, which in this case is a soccer ball and it spiraled upwards. I had the trail of smoke have a swirly like texture, which went around the edges of the composition. Then I placed a pattern as a background.

About the Artist:

Recently I've become obsessed with drawing my rabbits and I have been slapping it all over my 2D design assignments.
