Earthshare: Public Service Announcement

About the Work:

Earthshare is an environmental involvement group, with that in mind what I tried to do for the PSA was to give the audience a sense of urgency and guilt with the message of protecting and preserving the planet. The assignment also required us to use irony when communicating the message, so what I did was to personify the Earth as someone who is poor, sick, elderly, and in need of help. In the end I decided to make Mother Earth (the metaphoric expression for the Earth) a beggar woman, however i tried to give subtle hints that it's Mother Earth and that your first read is just an elderly woman. So when you read "our mother" the double meaning (irony) of who she is and what's wrong with her becomes clear.

About the Artist:
I started at El Camino at the fall 06 semester but didn't take the graphic design classes until the 08 semesters. My current goal is to transfer into Art Center School of Design at  Pasadena majoring in their Entertainment Design undergraduate program.

Wildly wicked wing sauce package design

About the Work:

I wanted to create a package design that emphasizes the color of the sauce, and also make it a bit funny. The original label was very generic and had too much text & info, so I tried to minimize & simplify the layout. The voodoo theme was chosen to show the origin of the sauce - Louisiana. The prototype label was printed on transparent window-cling media & has a small velum insert to show the printed colors better. The package is die-cut acetate w/ transparent window-cling media as well. The hardest part was to make the voodoo doll figure to look like it was stabbed by the bottle. I tried my best, and quite happy with the result... but if you look at it at certain angle, it looks like the voodoo doll is having an erection.

About the Artist:
I just started taking classes at El Camino last fall to obtain web design certificate. I am currently working as in-house designer at a sign company, and resident designer for a small fastfood franchise. Ever since I got my hands on my first beige Mac at 1991, I have always been doodling on computer. I got into graphic design more seriously when I started working for sign company, mostly designing building signs & logos for various clients.

Rocket Soccerball

About the Work:

I drew my character as a robot and had it shoot up an object, which in this case is a soccer ball and it spiraled upwards. I had the trail of smoke have a swirly like texture, which went around the edges of the composition. Then I placed a pattern as a background.

About the Artist:

Recently I've become obsessed with drawing my rabbits and I have been slapping it all over my 2D design assignments.
